We closed on a Tuesday night. We had enough time for a celebratory glass of champagne but that was it. There was some sort of furnace situation that I can't even remember so we didn't get the keys until the next Wednesday evening. We both took the next day off to move so we had to get moving! There was no way we were going to move our furniture in with this hideous carpet lying underneath. No sooner did our realtor leave after handing over the keys when our great friends showed up to help! Say buh-bye to the grandma-ey smelling stuff.
Since it was already 7:00 pm, our goal was to get the living room and the two extra bedrooms torn out. We left the hallway and the master for reasons unknown. Probably due to exhaustion and a fear of an all nighter. So no big deal, by the light of the moon we began ripping. And pulling. And removing about 40,000 staples. My two stepdaughters and I got to work on their rooms and my husband and our friend worked on the front rooms.
Once the carpet was gone a beautiful set of unfinished hardwood floors were revealed. After the boys removed the staples they sanded those beauties smooth.
Ahh,better. We're already looking like we belong in the new millennium. That is if you overlook the fantastic chandelier and the puppet theater curtains.
Pretty sure we got about 12 minutes of sleep that night but we were super excited because it was moving day!
